At Long Last

Following the earth-shattering success Blizzard enjoyed with the 1998 release of the original Starcraft, pretty much everyone was already busy discussing what to expect in the second generation of the game. Unfortunately, the red hot passion Starcraft fans had for this real time space-based strategy title had about a decade to cool before they would see the first inklings of Starcraft 2.

Long waits and delayed expectations aside, it's irrefutable that Starcraft 2 has officially exploded on to the gaming scene and, not surprisingly, the announcement is making huge waves. To kick off what will no doubt be a massive media frenzy over one of the most anticipated titles in the history of video game, Blizzard released a pack of 10 screenshots which we have reproduced here. Blizzard also made live the oft-drooled-over official website, complete with wallpapers, movies, screenshots, and a good helping of gameplay details to keep everyone excited, but still hungry for more.

Details and specifics as to what the game will offer to old Starcraft addicts (and there are many of them) or newcomers to this fantastic series are currently scarce. From mumblings, presentations, and clever gleaning from the new released media, IGN has put together a fairly substantial list of what changes gamers can expect from Starcraft 2.
