Battlefront and Russian developer Akella have reached an agreement to publish the long awaited PT Boats - Knights of the Sea.  We've been waiting for this title for a long time - it has literally been years in development - so the news that Battlefront has picked it up is big news to wargamers.

The game is focused on some of the most daring naval combatants of World War II.  The torpedo boat crews had a reputation of being lightning fast, daring, and potentially lethal to even the largest of ships.  PT Boats - Knights of the Sea is described as a "full-blown naval simulation...combining key elements of a strategic, tactical and action simulator, the game allows the player to control each crew member separately - or command whole groups of ships in a strategic layer!"  This is great news to wargamers.  The source material is rich with potential, and the ability to take the game from an action focused game, which seemed to be the original focus years ago when we first saw it at E3, to a broader tactical and strategic game suggest that it may have become the serious wargame we've all hoped it would.  Players will be able to man individual weapons on a PT boat as well as being able to pull back and look at the broader picture.

The game is expected to be fully compatible with multicore processors and DirectX 10.  The game is currently undergoing English language localization and is expected to be released sometime later this year.
