Starshatter, War in the Pacific Gold

GONE GOLD posted on 22 JUN 2004 by Chris Abele

Matrix Games announced its next two titles had been completed.

Starshatter and War in the Pacific have both gone gold, publisher Matrix Games announced early this morning. Starshatter (preview) is Destineer Games' new space combat simulation in which players have an incentive to move through the game. As the player progresses, larger and larger ships become available until they're actually controlling a squadron of spaceships in the role of a fleet commander.

War in the Pacific (interview) is 2by3's (Gary Grisby, Joel Billings, and Keith Brors) new operational-level wargame set in the Pacific Theater (December 7th, 1941 until June 30th, 1946). The turn-based wargame is based on Uncommon Valor (review), and once again recreates the massive battles of the Pacific on one very large map (60 miles per hex), complete with representations of nearly every ship that sailed in the war.

For more information on the games, visit their respective web sites: Starshatter and War in the Pacific. There is no estimated release date for either game, but expect them to be available for purchase in the coming weeks.
