Pacific Fighters Gone Gold

GONE GOLD posted on 7 OCT 2004 by Chris Abele

Look for the flight sim in stores in early November.

Ubisoft announced on late Wednesday the completion of Oleg Maddox's latest flight sim, Pacific Fighters (E3 2004 coverage). The World War II Pacific Theater game has gone gold and should appear in stores in the early part of November. Pacific Fighters is the sequel to the superb and highly detailed flight sims of the Eastern Front, IL-2 Sturmovik (review) and IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles (review) released in previous years. In addition to the 16 new locations and battles (including Midway, Guadalcanal, Pearl Harbor, Singapore, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima), players will be able to pilot some 40 different aircraft on both sides of the war. These will include the Aichi D3A1 Val, Bristol Beaufighter, Douglas A-20 Havoc, Grumman F6f Hellcat, Mitsubishi A6M Zero, Kawasaki Ki-61 Tony, North American B-25 Mitchell, and Vought F4U-1 Corsair. As was announced earlier, Pacific Fighters will also feature free multiplayer gaming with up to 128 other pilots in large-scale aerial dogfights, or a 32-player cooperative mode less hectic play.

Pacific Fighters will retail for $40. Further information is available on the game's official web site or in a recent SimHQ preview.
