Hearts of Iron 2 Gone Gold

GONE GOLD posted on 7 DEC 2004 by Chris Abele

The grand strategy sequel is readied for release.

Paradox Entertainment announced today Hearts of Iron 2 had gone gold. The World War II grand strategy game will be the sequel to 2002's Hearts of Iron (microsite), the popular and controversial game in which players carefully managed their country against the backdrop of a highly accurate recreation of World War II history. The sequel's game map spans the entire globe, and players can run one of 130 different countries. The developers at the Swedish company have made significant updates to the game system's AI, combat system, management system, and interface, as well as a new campaign, multiplayer cooperative play, and a tutorial to help players get started.

As we have previously discussed, Hearts of Iron 2 will be released here in North America this January. For more information on the game, consult our detailed preview, Q&A, or visit the game's official web site and check out the rolling demo.
