According to an article in the Small Wars Jounal, in a move to try to speed its three to five year revision cycle for instruction manuals, the US Army is piloting a program using Wikis. Traditional manual revisions have taken years to update. Between the speed of technological evolution and the need to update tactics and information in a more timely manner, the US Army is now piloting a program whereby anyone with a special account (AKO) can now submit edits to these documents. Users can also view edits made by others as well as view previous versions of the document.

The goal is to save money, increase the speed of changes, and increase the accuracy of the documents.
